An AI & Robotics Lab replaces a generic computer room with a hands-on maker bench: block-based coding boards, sensor-driven robotics kits, and an AI training console at every seat. Students move from dragging code blocks in grade 3 to training vision and speech models in grade 10 — the same arc used by STEMpedia's PictoBlox/Quarky ecosystem and STEMROBO's AI-lab rollouts, adapted into DUET STEM's own curriculum spine.
Every concept is taught on a real board and sensor before it is abstracted into a diagram — motion, light and sound become measurable data.
Students start in a drag-and-drop editor and graduate into Python/C++ on the same hardware, so no tool is ever thrown away.
Image, pose and sound classifiers are trained locally using the students' own webcam data, then deployed straight onto the robot.
Sessions are designed to be run by the school's own trained teacher after year one, not permanently outsourced.
Every component below ships, is commissioned on-site, and comes with a matching maintenance line item — nothing here is a "coming soon" placeholder.
| DUET STEM · AI & Robotics Lab | Rev. 2026 | |
|---|---|---|
| Component | Specification | Quantity |
| Programmable micro-controller boards | Sensor-rich boards with onboard motor drivers, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi | 1 per 2 students |
| AI training console (software) | Image / audio / pose classification studio, runs in-browser | 1 license per seat |
| Robotics chassis & actuator kits | DC + servo motors, chassis, wheels, grippers | 1 kit per 2 students |
| Sensor pack | IR, ultrasonic, colour, gesture, temperature, sound | 6 sensors per kit |
| Host computers / tablets | Windows or Android, min. 4GB RAM | 1 per 2 students |
| Charging & storage station | Locking cart with labelled bays per class section | 1 per lab |
| Display & control panel | Interactive panel for teacher demonstration | 1 per lab |
Modules build on each other year over year so a student's grade-10 session assumes and extends what they built in grade-6, rather than repeating fundamentals.
Electrical, seating and network audit; lab layout finalized with the school.
Week 1–2Furniture, boards, kits and software commissioned station by station.
Week 3–55-day intensive training with practical sessions before the first student batch.
Week 6Grade-wise weekly classes conducted according to the certified curriculum.
